Revolutionizing payments : Google Pay Launches 6 Exciting Updates!

At the final session of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024, Google Pay revealed a suite of six innovative features aimed at enhancing user experience and expanding app capabilities. Set to launch later this year, these features encompass UPI Circle, UPI Vouchers (eRupi), ClickPay QR for bill payments, prepaid utilities, Tap & Pay with RuPay, and Autopay for UPI Lite.

Google Pay’s UPI Circle feature facilitates digital payments by eliminating the need for users to link their personal bank accounts. It offers two options: partial delegation, which requires users to approve each transaction made by secondary users, and full delegation, where users can set a monthly limit of up to Rs 15,000, allowing secondary users to make payments autonomously within this threshold.

Highlighting the advancements is UPI Vouchers, which allow users to conduct digital payments via prepaid vouchers tied to their mobile numbers. These vouchers can be used across any UPI-compatible app, such as Google Pay, eliminating the need for a bank account. Initially rolled out for COVID-19 vaccination payments, UPI Vouchers have evolved into a flexible payment tool for various applications. This feature stems from Google Pay’s joint effort with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Department of Finance.

In a bid to simplify and secure online bill payments, Google Pay has rolled out ClickPay QR in collaboration with NPCI Bharat BillPay. Users can now pay their bills by scanning a ClickPay QR code using the Google Pay app’s QR scanner, bypassing the need to remember complex account numbers or lengthy consumer IDs.

The announcement also includes prepaid utilities payment, designed to give users more control over managing their utility bills, and Tap & Pay with RuPay cards, which facilitates effortless tap-to-pay transactions using RuPay cards directly through the Google Pay app. Furthermore, the Autopay for UPI Lite feature will offer users a streamlined solution for automating regular and recurring payments.

These new features underscore Google Pay’s dedication to improving user convenience and security in digital transactions, in line with the increasing use of digital payment solutions in India.
